i was told my content was mediocre 🤕

Hi Reader,

Two years ago, someone told me my content was mediocre. At the time, it stung—but looking back, that single comment turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me.

Why? Because actively seeking feedback—even the kind that doesn’t feel great to hear at first—has been a game-changer for me. Every few quarters, I make it a point to ask for honest feedback, whether it’s about my content, business, or even personal growth.

This habit has helped me uncover blind spots and focus on areas I didn’t realize needed attention.

For example, over a year ago, I was part of a program that challenged me to understand my strengths and weaknesses. I reached out to a few trusted friends to get their honest perspectives.

Hearing their feedback wasn’t easy for the self-critical part of me that gets embarrassed when I don’t do things perfectly or get it right immediately. But their insights gave me the clarity I needed. Since then, I’ve been actively working on those areas, and the progress I’ve made has been incredibly rewarding.

Another moment that stands out was when I sought feedback on my content.

As a social media strategist, I always want to push my content to the next level, so I asked for a critique from someone I respect in the industry. They told me my content was good, but here’s the kicker: “It’s too similar to what everyone else is sharing.”

Ouch.

At first, the comment hurt. But once I separated my emotions and filtered the feedback, it sparked a fire in me to rethink my approach. I started creating more talking videos instead of just reels with text overlays. I also invested in coaching that elevated my content game to the next level.

The results were undeniable. My audience noticed the shift, and I saw a significant increase in inquiries and conversions.

The truth is, the growth you’re looking for often lies in the honest feedback you’re avoiding. You likely already know what you’re doing well, but it’s those gaps—the ones you’re hesitant to address—that hold the key to doubling your content results and transforming your life.

As the year winds down, I encourage you to take some time to reflect:

  • Where could you use a fresh perspective?
  • What areas in your business, content, or life need fine-tuning?

Do an honest audit and actively seek the feedback that may feel uncomfortable but will 100% help you grow. I promise that your future self will thank you.

Here’s to embracing the uncomfortable and making 2025 your best year yet! 🥂

As usual, my DM is always open & if you enjoyed reading share with a friend! 🤎
